MATERIAL EXPLORATION (2018-2022)
All work here is an exercise which further informs O.L.U.B's sculptural work and serves as the true bridge between their early print work and current works. "Material Exploration" is the early and continued practice in which O.L.U.B explores found objects as the anthropology of waste. Often playing with found images, wasted paper and industrial debris O.L.U.B confronts the fact that what constitutes waste is highly subjective and should be up for discussion.
Object Relationships (2022)
Through their "Object Relationships" O.L.U.B builds imagined relationships between found objects with the goal of pushing material to the foreground. This exploratory work plays with themes of overconsumption by making trash the figure of interest. By turning the object into the figure O.L.U.B lets the unique history of each finding speak for itself while reimagining it in its afterlife.

Precious Metals Archives (2019-2020)
The "Precious Metals Archive" is just that, an archive of all of the collected metals which O.L.U.B had foraged over the course of many years in the desert and otherwise. This work manifests in a series of prints and ultimately two books. "I Collect Comfort" is a 15foot long book composed of found objects which are archived through a variety of monoprints, chine-colle masking and blind embossment on scrap papers from their university. "Wonder" and "Key Outtake" are pages from the production of this work that were omitted for one reason or another. Similar to "I Collect Comfort", "A Collection of Precious Metals" is an archive of the same materials but instead of approaching the archive through print in this book O.L.U.B encases the objects themselves in fine art papers. This material selection is intentional, juxtaposing hard metals with soft, high end papers to illustrate O.L.U.B's wonderings: Does it all fit in? Are materials waste because they've been forgotten? Can they be treated with the same reverence as master paintings and seen as such through that presentation?

Physical Relation (2018)
"Physical Relation" is the ultimate bridge between O.L.U.B's early print work and current works. This sculptural approach to printmaking through book arts and 2D works on paper employs found object as matrix. Using these salvaged objects as the printed image O.L.U.B illustrates narratives and creates an organic push and pull between the paper and the image. These works seek to speak to the beauty and inherent symbolism of each discarded object. Film strips, corroded wrenches, conduit backings and discarded saw blades all make a staring appearances in "Sharp Tongue" (see Portrait of Self, Backscatter) and the works displayed here.
